WElcome to finley Arscott racing

THE JOURNEY SO FAR

“I’m Finley Arscott (Fin) and I live in Lifton, West Devon. I’ve had a very short career so far with very little previous experience in motorbike racing but I’ve progressed to a high standard in BSB Junior Superstock.

It all started in 2006 when I was 4 1/2 and Mum and Dad took me to my first Moto GP at Donington Park. I came home laden with toy bikes and from that moment on, I was hooked.

At the age of 7, Dad allowed me to experience riding a mini moto dirt bike on the Moors. Dad held on to the bike and told me to be careful with the throttle, but I had other ideas! One minute Dad was walking along happily holding onto the bike and the next minute, I was gone like a bat out of hell and left Dad running after me and screaming at me to stop. Needless to say, this ended in a trip to A & E for me.

During this time, Sundays were also spent riding our quad bike and I no longer needed Dad to sit on the back with me.

My next bike at the age of 10 was a 125cc Pit Bike where I learnt all about gears and again, experience was gained riding around endlessly in circles on the moors.

I was 13 when Mum and Dad treated me to a Ron Haslam Race School day at Donington Park where I was thrilled to be able to ride a Honda CBR 125cc. A great day for me and I think I smiled the whole 4 hour journey home.

A Honda Grom was my next bike. This time I pleaded with Dad to allow me to “borrow” his knee sliders. They were returned to Dad in pristine condition…. I realised I needed to go faster and have track experience.

However, my biking career was put temporarily on hold when I thought 4 wheels would be my future. I found I had quite a talent for Go-karting and winning races, and I had visions of being the next Lewis Hamilton! I soon came to my senses and realised I wanted to race motorbikes.

On my 16th birthday and after taking my CBT test, I picked up my new Aprilia 50cc. I was thrilled. I was quite happy to crawl along at 30mph…. this was until I arranged with Dad to take my ACU license. Three months later in February 2018, I was at Donington again with Thundersport, having passed my ACU on an Aprilia RRV 450r and my Aprilia 50cc was put up for sale.

My first competitive bike was a KTM 390cc and I enrolled in Thundersport Superteens not long after my ACU day. I have competed in four rounds this year with Thundersport and one round at Castle Combe with NG Racing where I have gained valuable experience on new tracks.”

HERE WE ARE NOW!

I CANNOT WAIT!………..

I will be competing a full season of the Pirelli National Junior Superstock Championship as part of the Hand racing team. I will be riding the MIH Solutions Yamaha R6.
They will be running a two bike team, one in the HEL Performance National Junior Supersport championship, and me in the British national junior superstock championship. MIH Solutions are our title sponsors, having supported the team for several years already and backing them again for 2023. In addition to that, it’s really good to say that on top of joining a great team with a great atmosphere and backing, I will also be riding within the Macadam Academy which has been set up this year to help Yamaha riders like myself grow in the sport.
All of this makes 2023 such an exciting prospect for me individually, and all of us as a team, it gives us the support we need to grow and develop as riders and puts us in the best position for both championships.
We will be taking the MIH Solutions Yamaha R6 to start testing in Spain in the coming weeks. I can’t wait to get back out on track and build on my learning and experience form last year.
I am looking forward to 2023 more than any other year I have raced. I feel like I have the right team and support around me to give me the environment and motivation to succeed. I can’t wait to get stuck into the season and start racing.
